The Lagos State government had claimed the attack was not caused by a bomb
The extremist group, Boko Haram, has claimed responsibility for a deadly blast that killed at least two people at a fuel depot in Lagos June 25.
The explosion followed an earlier one same day at Emab plaza in Abuja, in which over 20 people were killed.
The Lagos State government, and the police, denied the blast at Apapa was caused by a bomb, claiming it was a fire incident caused by a canister.
In a new video reported Sunday, Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, said he ordered the strike and chided the Lagos governor, Babatunde Fashola, for claiming it was not a bomb, according to the French news agency, AFP.
“A bomb went off in Lagos. I ordered (the bomber) who went and detonated it,” Mr. Shekau said, the news agency reported Sunday.

If true, the Lagos blast would be the first confirmed bomb attack launched by the Islamist group in southern Nigeria.
The incident came hours after a bomb had hit the busy shopping Emab plaza in Wuse 2, Abuja.
Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES after the Lagos incident, Ngozi Braide, the Lagos State Police Spokesperson, said the explosion was caused by a tanker conveying petrol.
“There is nothing whatsoever suggesting that it was a bomb explosion, it was a tanker loaded with fuel that burst into flames,” Ms. Braide said.
The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, attributed the cause of the fire to a gas cylinder explosion.
Ibrahim Farinloye, NEMA Spokesperson, South-West, said that the explosion occurred at 26, off Creek Road, Apapa at about 9:15 p.m.
“People were reported to be filling gas into the cylinder before it exploded,” Mr. Farinloye said.
Boko Haram leader, Shekau, said the claims were a cover-up.
“You said it was a fire incident. Well, if you hide it from people you can’t hide it from Allah,” he said according to AFP, which described Shekau as standing next to at least 10 gunmen in front of two armoured personnel carriers and two pickup trucks.
